The Clericus Classic at Serra High School in San Mateo on Jan. 18th was the location of a challenging, full-court basketball match between the priests and seminarians. The seminarian team won the game in overtime, 54-51.
Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone got things started with the tipoff. The priest team jumped out to a big lead but the seminarian team slowly came back and ended up winning in overtime 54-51. The seminarians celebrated their victory with a fun shot on the campus steps (see above).
However, things were different during the half-time activities. The eighth graders from St. Gregory beat the seminarians in a half-time competition, earning a prize of a barbecue at St. Patrick’s Seminary & University. There was also a free-throw contest that was won by St. Matthew eighth grader JaKeenan Williams-Choa.
Proceeds from the game will be used to support vocation initiatives in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Please support vocations in the Archdiocese of San Francisco (https://www.sfpriest.org/).
