On December 6th, the Hispanic Community of St. Patrick's Seminary hosted an all day celebration of the Virgen de Guadalupe. The day started with singing mañanitas in the morning with the Oblate Sisters at their convent followed by a special Latin breakfast in the refectory. The day concluded with a Spanish Mass and dinner and entertainment in the evening.
The Mass was celebrated by Rev. José Arturo Bazán '18 with Rev. Mr. John Pietruszka '18 assisting as a deacon. The music was provided by the St. Patrick's Spanish Choir and seminarian Anhvu Nguyen on the organ. Included in the program were beautiful and reverent renditions of Pescador de Hombres and Las Aparaiciones Guadalupanas.
The evening ended with dinner and entertainment in the refectory. The meal was our end-of-semester dinner celebration with Hispanic Student Body President Ramon Urbina acting as the master of ceremony. Gifts were given to the volunteers who made the day possible. Everyone was delighted by the wonderful food prepared by the Oblate Sisters and the music of Mariachi Tenochtitlán from Fresno, CA.
The entire day was a terrific end to a very successful semester. Some seminarians departed for home right after the event and others left early the next day. Check out the slideshow below to see some of the day's activities.
May Bienaventurada Virgen de Gaudalupe look over us during this Christmas season and pray for us.
