PRESENTATION TOPIC

Masculine Eros, Joyful Celibacy and Priestly Mission

At the center of the priest’s heart, and nearly always the determining factor of his vocation, is the challenging integration of his eros into celibacy which vivifies and humanizes the powerful agape love necessary for his mission. Such an integration is based upon theological principles that are essentially linked to the human and spiritual dimensions of the priest. This presentation, drawing upon several aspects of Balthasar’s thought, will explore how this integration can happen through the priest’s affective relationship with the Blessed Virgin Mary forged at the foot of the Cross.
