The first floor of the B-Wing at St. Patrick's Seminary is one of the busiest spots on campus. A majority of the classrooms are located on this beautiful corridor that is lined with photographs of past graduates by their year of graduation. On a lazy afternoon, it is a blessing to stroll down the corridor and recall the memories of alumni that have graced the grounds of the seminary.
All that activity leads to wear and tear on the flooring. The B-Wing was no exception. Years of use had taken its toll on the carpeting and it needed to be addressed. Certain areas were so badly wore that they conceivably could be considered a tripping hazard. Fr. Doherty and a special facilities team decided that the carpet needed to be replaced.
Thanks to contributions from several benefactors, St. Patrick's was able to rip up the carpeting and renovate the underlying hardwood floors. Given the importance of the corridor and to avoid interrupting academic studies, the entire project was completed during the recent Easter break. Much thanks to TJC Flooring of Belmont for their hard work in completing the project on-time.
Future plans include expanding the renovation to the A-Wing and then eventually the C-Wing. Once completed, the beauty of our hardwood flooring will shine throughout our main building. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please contact Martha Sheridan to learn how you can help.
